Deformation Characteristics of Bucket−Soil Interaction in Sand during Jacked Penetration

Grouped buckets are an important type of foundation for offshore structures. Because interactions between buckets, jacked penetration above a group two is complicated process that involves complex bucket-soil interactions. In this study, non-contact digital image correlation was applied to study the deformation sandy soil during penetration. Bucket-group efficiency negatively correlated with sand density and bucket diameter, incremental filling ratio positively diameter. The graph versus depth curves polyline diameter 5 cm hyperbola 7.5 cm. Buckets in groups experience superposition their fields, which leads partial loss shear strength. Sand density, spacing markedly influence field group, consistent force-displacement curves. bucket-group effect retards formation plug.
